ty dear Miss DeShane:
We have recently transferred your enrollment to the Second
Reserve classification of the American Red Cross Nursing Service due
to the fact that you have been found to be physically disquilified for
service with the Aray Nurse Corps because of overweight.
However, since you indicated you were available for service
now,
we are wondering it you would be interested in civilian nursing
service in Hawaii. The American Red Cross is assuming the responsibility
of recruiting nurses for emergeney civilian hospitals in the Hawaiiun
Islends. These nurses are employed directly by the Emergeney Medical
and Hospital Service of the Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in
the Territory of Hawaii. As the Office of Civilian Lefense is under
the direct jurisdiction of the Department of Interior here, the nurses
have the status of emergency Federal Employees. The encloged general
information sheet will give you more details about this service.
will you please reply at once whether or not you are in-
terested as e are now making more appointments, and, if you wish to
submit your applic tion for consideration for appointment, will you
kindly fill out and return the enclosed pink form with your reply.
Sineeroly yours,
(Mr..) Ernestine B. Amick
