My dear Miss Butler:
Enclosed you will find a letter
written to me by Miss Harriott L. P. Friend,
Director at Headquarters, California State Nurses
Association, Inc., San Francisco, which is self-
explanatory.
While I fear it is too late in this
session of Congress to secure the enactment of
legislation providing benefits for the group of
600 nurses who served overseas with the Red Cross,
I still will appreciate your sending to me any data
you may have regarding the service rendered by
these young women in order that I may have such
information in pleading their cause. It may be
that I can take initial steps in their behalf which
might result in the passage of a bill in the next
session of Congress.
