Dear Madam:
You have been definitely accepted for Red 20 Cross Service abroad.
We are booking you to sail from New Yoxk on
Aug.
,
and request you
to report to our office, 222 Fourth Avenue, corner 18th Street, six days
prior to the afore mentioned sailing date. Is this satisfactory?
We are sending you herewith information about various details.
Please note that the form letter regarding passport, speaks of a letter
of endorsement from us. It also states that your passport application
will be sent by the Court to the Stäte Department in Washington.
Owing to a recent change in prodedure ordered by the State
Department, you are informed that this letter will constitute your endorse*
ment, in place of the formal letter which was used previously. Further-
more, the Court will send your application direct to the Red Cross, Bureau
of Personnel, Washington, D. C., instead of to the State Department.
Note further that all women must make a statement on their pass-
port application that they have no male relatives, (husbands, sons, fathers
or brothers) in the armed service of the United States. either here or abroad,
or overseas in the service of any organizations such as the Red Cross,
Y. M. C. A., Knights of Columbus, etc. In the case of these organisations
the prohibition does not apply to those who have relatives in this country.
Yours very truly,
R. H. Stiloon
Assistant Manager.
