Miss Mary A. Clarke
Y.M.C.A.
1421 Arch Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
My dear Miss Clarke:
Your letter addressed to Miss Boardman has been
referred to me. I regret to state that even though we are
working at high speed at Red Cross Headquarters we appear to
be able to cover the situation with our regular staff. I
appreciate your difficulties and only wish that I could be
of assistance to you, not only because of my interest in you
personally but because of your close friendship with Miss
Delano. Hundreds of nurses are helping with the flood relief
work and I think if Miss Delano were to know how splendidly
they had responded for service, almost entirely as volunteers,
she would realize she had built better than she knew.
I am wondering if you have ever been to our Chapter
in Philadelphia in order to ascertain whether they had any type
of work which you could perform. You may be interested to know
that I have recently sent out hundreds of the little circulars
which had been prepared by the Lakeside Publishing Company on
your delightful "Memories of Miss Delano': Life". I am hoping
that this will stimulate the sale of the book.
With best wishes and regretting that I cannot be of
more practical assistance, I remain
Sincerely yours,
Director of Nursing
N:D
