My dear Miss Clarke:
We have just learned of the death of your aunt, Miss Mary A.
Clarke, American Rei Gross muese, and should like to express our sincere
sympathy to you and the other members of her family in your groat loss.
Miss Clarke's records as a Rei Cross nurse will be retained on
file permanently et National Resdquarters, and no dount you sill want to
have then ao complete as possible. We should particularly like to know the
date, cause and plnce of her death, and ir there is any additional informa-
tion you would like to have become a part of her Rod Croso records, will
you not include it with your reply.
At the time Miss Marke became enrolled in the American Red
Cross Nursing Service, we issued to her an appointment card and a badge
bearing the number 1224, with the understanding that these credentials
would remain the property of the American Red Cross at all times, We
shall be grateful if you will formard Miss Clarke's card and badge to us
at your earliest convenience for permanent filing with her papers here.
In order that you may better understand our reuest for these credentials,
we are enclosing a letter of instructions regarding the use of the badge,
such as was supplied Miss Clarke upon her enrollment.
If, by any chence, you know nothing of the whereabouts of her
credentials, please so advise us in order to complete our records.
