sion during their stay here, but would be joint with her in all matters
and I need not assure you that Miss Olmsted would welcome most cordi ally
their presence here."
Today, a cablegram has come from Sir Claude as follows:
"Need health nursing expert from February first Paris for four months
as consultant in preparing health nursing educational program hefore General
Council meeting and April. Suggest Crandall or Florience Patterson. Please
consult
them. will paying traveling and salary $300 monthly. Writing."
We have had no word from Sir Claude in regard to the confirmation of
my nomination. I judge from this cablegram that Miss Olmsted is very much
in need of assistance and that Sir Claude is particularly anxious thet she
should have the best holp America can give her in getting things in shape
for the April meeting. I think Sir Claude feels that it would be a great
advantage if this assistance nould be given by the nurse who is to represent
America on the committee and is still hoping that some such arrengement can
be made.
I am sending this information on to you immediately and hope that you
will not allow the fact that the RedCross has nominated me for the committ
to enter into your consideration of the pooposition. of course, I scarcely
sae how the American Child Henlth Association could release you for this
period, but I think it would be a tremendous help to Miss Olmsted if you
could spend this four months with her. I don't for one minute want my
nomination to stand in the way of securing for her the assistance which she
undouhtedly needs and needs badly. If you can go over, I shall be gled to
ask Judge Payne to withdraw my nomination and suggest yourself in my stend.
Will you let me have an answer as soon 8.8 you can so that I may cable it to
Miss Olmsted? or if you prafer to cable her yourself, will you let me know
whnt your answer has been?
Yours sincerely
