E M Henry Street Visiting Nurse Service, 341 East 25th St., New York, New York, December 29, 1940. Miss Gertrude Madley, Chief Nurse, American Red Cross- Harvard Hospital Unit, American Red Cross, Washington, D. C. Dear Miss Madley: I am free to accept an appointment with the American Red Cross-Harvard Hospital Unit. When I was employed by the Henry Street Visiting Nurse Service it was understood that, if I had the opportunity of going to Europe with the Red Cross, I might be released. Miss Blaisdell, Personnel Director, asked me not to the decision before carefully considering the effect it have on my work in the suggestion make might future. the something N.O.P.H.N. At her I I went to see Miss Deming at office. And now, that I still feel it is wish to do, Miss Blaisdell is willing that I should go. I have not been able to talk with Miss Phillips since.
