November 19, 1918.
Capt. D. E. Griffiths,
Military Intellegence Bureau,
Wer Department,
Washington, D. c.
My. dear Capt. Griffiths:-
Here is the application of Fiss Jane A. Delano, who for nine years
has been the Director of the Department of Nursing of the Red Cross.
Miss Delano is one of the well known women of Washington, and can
get strong letters of endorsement from any officer of the Red Cross. I do not
want to have Miss Deleno put to the teouble of a lot of unnecessary red tape,
and am therefore going to ask you to be good enough to pase on her loyalty from
my letter, backed up as it is by endorsements from Mr. George E. Scott, General
Menager of the Red Cross, Mr. Eliot Wadsworth, Vice-Cheirmen, and Mr. George B.
Case, member of the War Council.
Mr. Henry P. Davison is on his way home, and is expected here in
a few days, and as the War Council is desirious of having Miss Delano leave
as soon as it is possible after she has had a conference with Mr. Davison, I
would appreciate it if you would help me in this matter.
Yours very truly,
Director,
Department of Personnel.
