Mr. Frederick P. King,
32 Liberty Street,
New York City.
My dear Mr. King:-
A wild rumor is in circulation and it has come to
the ears of the General Manager that Miss Jene A. Delano, who as
you know sailed on a special tour of inspection of the nursing
service in France, we.s put to considerable trouble and inconven-
ience in locating her passport, evidently being compelled to go
to the Y. M. c. A., where she found it.
I feel sure, I will go so far as to say that I know,
this story is absolutely without foundation. I personally did
everything possible to prevent just such an occurrence, and arrang-
ed with Miss Delano for her to take her passport and other required
papers to New York in person.
Our passport card record bears this notation: "To
be given to Miss Delano by Mr. King".
of personal recollection, Miss Sparks tells me that
she fools certain Miza Delano's passport handed to you by Miss
Brainard, and that you transmitted it to Misa Delano.
Mr. Munroe of Mr. Scott's office has instructed me
to investigate this matter, and I will appreciate your giving ne your
recollection of the circumstances surrounding the delivering of the
passport to Miss Delano.
Sincerely yours,
Director - Bureau of Foreign Personnel.
