Now and then National Headquarters received brief reports of reconstruction units she was organizing, and a hint of the internationalization of the Red Cross "to cooperate for the health of the world," and the part A which she might play at these conferences. During the last of March came a cable that she was desperately ill. At the heighth of her workgeven before the Red Cross had realized her accomplishment, in a bare little room at Base Hospital #69, Savenay, France, she died on 2 the morning of April 15 th, - "in line of duty". 4 This was the life of Jane A. Delano, Director of the w Department of Nursing of the american Red Cross. 0
