THE AMERICAN RED CROSS LAKE DIVISION HEADQUARTERS 2157 EUCLID AVENUE Miss is CLEVELAND, your OHIO reaction FROM DEPARTMENT OF PUBLICITY April 25, 1919. Mr. F. C. Munroe, Department of Publicity, G.I.S. American Red Cross, Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Munroe:- We have written asking Mr. Waddell whether or not he would consider it advisable to furnish the divisions with a short trailer) giving Miss Delano's picture some subject matter, and words of some national song which the audience would be requested to rise and sing. In this way the day selected for commemoration of her service in the American Red Cross organization could be observed quite widely. This would make also a very good publicity stunt, bringing the Red Cross 21 again before the public in a matter of universal news interest. 4 If a trailer is not practicable perhaps slides could be supplied to I all the divisions to cover the motion picture houses direct from division headquarters. You at nátional headquarters would be able 0 w to get a so much better price on enough slides to cover the country - 0 than we could working as separate divisions that it would seem, if the thing is at all worth doing, best done from national headquarters. For example, a thousand slides would cover Ohio in this division. If ! that could be taken as a.n average you would have something to work on in considering whether the idea would be feasible or not. We would be glad to hear whether you would consider this method dignified enough to be used in conjunction with whatever local memorial services may be planned. The movies would certainly reach people who would not be apt to come to the memorial services. m waygh (lue e.a.) Director, Department of Publicity. MW:HC
