w 0 your Reper BOBY 7/10/20 My dear Miss Hay- Miss Noyes tells me that you are now in charge of the Red Cross work in Paris and I am glad to think that you were relieved of the responsibility of that perilous work in the East. The office in Paris was such a comfort to me while I was in France, when Miss Fitzgerald Was there and I am sure the nurses must be glad to find a sympathic and familiar face greet them when they come in with their troubles, You must know how near my heart the removal of Miss Delano's body to this country is and how hard I tried to effect it while I was in not France. It was a great disappointment to me that the Red Cross was permitted to make the arrangements for the trans- port, so the next best thing to do was to ask that they be permitted to be present at the disinterment and shipment at Savenay. I saw Gen. Ireland while I was in Washington recently and Miss Noyes says she sent you a copy of his letter. I answered it, asking that the name of the official in charge at Savenay be sent to the R.C. of- fice in Paris, but have had no answer as yet. However, I know you and the Paris R.C. officers will have no difficulty about that part of it and it is the greatest relief to me, dear Miss Hay, to feel that you are there, for Ifeel sure that every respect and considera- tion will be paid Miss Delano. I would Willingly go over myself, if it were necessary. M Miss Delano was buried in a me tal-lined casket which was sealed and placed in an outer box . ThisN was laid in a grave lined with concretefor be ter preservation. Nantes is only Pabout
