Miss Anna W. Kerr,
Minnequa Hill,
Canton, Pa.
My dear Miss Kerr:
in the preparation of the material on Miss Delano
for the Dictionary of American Biography, I find it is very essential
to have the names of the father and mother of Miss Delano. They are
also anxious to include information about her early education. Can
you give me any information upon this? It was my impression that
she taught for a time. Do you know the schools in which she taught
and what did she teach? None of our material at National Headquarters
includes information on these matters. Naturally, I want the article
as complete as possible.
Since writing to you on the subject of the date of
birth, etc., inesmuch as march 12, 1862 is given on her tombstone, it
would, I feel, be a very serious mistake to make any attempt at a
correction. In any case, what difference does it make?
I do not know whether Miss Nevins has returned or
not. I am hoping she planned to stay over Labor Day with you. She
was looking forward with a great deal of pleasure to her visit, and
as she has not been out of the city for over a year it seemed to me
a very good thing for her to get away for a brief respite.
Hoping for an early reply, I am
Sincerely yours,
Clara Thoyes
