My dear Mr. Johnson: Your letter of August 31st on the subject of the article on Jane A. Delano has been received. Immediately there- after I wro e to some of her more intimate friends to see if I could secure the names of her parents and some information about her early education. As yet no reply has reached me, consequently I have not been able to comply with your wishes, Miss Delano was an only child, and with almoet no relatives. Such as ehe had have probsbly died long ere this. I should be sorry to see the last paragraph on ) Page 2 omitted for this shows the result of her preliminary organiza- tion work. The last paragraph can, of couree, be omitted, but I chould like to include eomething which I overlooked, and that was her relation to the National äursing Apsociations, as she was President of the American Nurses¹ Association, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directore of the American Journal of Bursing. Perhape the reference to these two important activities can bè incorporated. Miss Delano wrote no booke, with the exception of the textbook on Home Hygiene and Gare of the Sick, which I have. already mentioned. The only source of information is the History of American Red Groes Bursing Service. All the other material has been gathered through her friende and my own acquaintance with her, which covered a good many years. I will let you hear from me later. I expect to be out of the city for the next tuo weeks, and am hoping that the delay will not inconvenience you. Sincerely yours, N.H National Director, Nursing Service.
