I + D Your membership in the Red Cross Nursing Service has been com- pleted and you would, no doubt, like to know something of your status as a public health aurse in the Eirst Reserve. From the many excellent articles that are being published in nursing magazines, you will know that the need for nurses with the Army and Navy continues, and from our knowledge of defense plans, we know that it will continue, In addition large numbers of public health nurses We know that to meet all of these needs will require the fullest cooperation are needed in connection with phases of our Civil Defense Program. of nurses in all fields and of all agencies employing nurses. In order to meet this need in the public health field, health officials have requested that public health nurses be permitted to continue in their present positions and that they be held in reserve for emergencies the public health field, we are not sending the records of public health nurses them of a public health nature. In view of this urgent need for nurses in- to the Army or Navy for assignment to hospital duty, but are holding with our Reserve of Enrolled Public Health Nurses. military service if you wish to do so, and provided you can be released now from or We do, however, wish to give you the opportunity to accept active your at any later date if you desire to be considered for active military present position for a period of one year.
