Extracted from letter from Miss Isabel M. Stewart, to Miss Noyes, Oct. 11, 1923. " I have had an inquiry from Bishop Stearley of the Episcopal Church asking us to recommend a nurse for executive secretary and organizer for the Guild of St. Barnabas. They are evidently going to undertake something like a campaign to develop the work of the Guild and they wast a rather live, enthusiastic person who would be able to interest student nurses in the work of the Guild, and also secure the cooperation of superintendents of nurses and graduates in the field. I met Miss Douglas here the other day, and it occured to me that she might be free, and might be just the person for this kind of work would know whether it would interest her, and also whether she is especially qualified along those lines. The salary they offer is $2500 and travelling expenses. The office will probably be here in New York." Miss Noyes' reply, Oct. 16, 1923. It was very good of you to suggest Miss Douglas for the Guild of St. Barnabas She would be an ideal person for that. She is a very staunch Episcopalian, a well-bred woman, with many social ties, and at the sametime a loyal member of the nursing profession." see letter filed 512. Belgrade School.
