= July 5, 1923, Miss Harriette S. Douglas, c/o Mrs. J. B. Mott, Bellport, Long Island New York, My dear Miss Douglast Thank you BO much for your letter of June 30th. I am always glad to hear from you, for as you know I regard you US one of my very best fri nds. I shall never forget your devotion to your work and your loyalty to me personally, and I hope very much that you will be able to find the particular work that suits you best. You have so many qualifications that I am sure that you will ultimately find the right thing. Poor Mr. Curtis, for 30 long a "square pog in a round hible, or vice versa", had just found the work for which he was best suited. It seems a tragedy that on the eve of probable success for him that he should have met with this sad accident. I four that his wife has been left with very little, if anything, he may however have carried a good insurance. I wonder if you know that I am planning to FO to Europe and am sailing on July 12th, on Oscar II, of the Scandinavian- American Line? If you happen to be in No York City on that date, join Miss Johnson and come down to the ship and see me off. I am going as the Representative of the Board of Directors of the American Nurses' Association, to attend the Meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Council of Nursing, which meets at Copenhagan, Denmark, on the 30th of July. Immediately following the mieting I hope to go down into Poland and visit our two Schools of Nursing at Posnan and Warsaw, and if all goes well will sail from Bremen on the 15th of August, on the S. S. George Washington. I dreased this trip, as I did not want to go at all at first, but now I am rather looking for- ward to the rest that will be afforded me by a ten days' sea trip. Do let me hear from you occasionally, and with best wishes, I num Sincerely yours, National Director, Nursing Service. n-k
