July 30, 1988. Miss Harriette 8. Douglas, c/o Equitable Trust Co., 41 Rue Camban, Perie, France. My dear Miss Douglas: Your letter of July 9th reached me some days ago. While I am .sorry to hear that you have left the Blub, still I can well understand your reasons for doing so. I must confess, however, to some surprise to learn that Miss Hardwick has not proved as loyal 86 we expected her to. I have not seen Miss Johnson so do not know the status at Babylon. When I last heartI found they had made an appointment for the position. I wrote to her, however, telling her that should another vacancy occur to keep you in mind. Your little frield, with the long and difficult name, who epeake of you as "Gyp" and who lives here in Washington, came in to see me a few days go in order to introduce a physician who wanted some information. She told me that you always made your headquarters with her while you were herè. She seemed to be deeply interested in your future. Do not bother about the little chain if it is not perfectly convenient. I thought, however, 'should like to have one. So you are to make a tour of England and Scotland. I sincerely hope that during that time you will recover from your disappointments and reestablish your health on a little more certain basis. you do not say that you are ill, but you looked badly when I last saw you and I really think you need a complete change. I have little news to tell you, except that I have bought a little house in Georgetown and I hope the next time you come to Fashing ton you can stop with ae.
