June 29, 1928. Mise Harriette S. Douglae, c/o quitable Trust Co. of N. Y., 41 rue Camban, Paris, France. My dear Miss Douglass While I was sorry to learn from your letter of June 16th, that you had left the Club, still I was not at all surprised. I am sorry, however, for the Club and for the activities represented therein. Too bad, you did not accept the opportunity at Babylon, I believe you would have been very happy there, the work seems so well worthwhile and is in line with your training and your social inclinations. I am disgusted with the attitude of the "powers that be" at the Club, and particularly distressed because of their lack of consideration for you. Like you I believe too in the "might of right", it always pays. The next question is - what are you going to do? Do you expect to return to this country in case the opportunity in Florence does not materialize? I should imagine there would be very little in the rursing or social service line in Italy. 1 understood Miss Curnee was going to France this summer, and I am wondering if you have seen her and had an opportunity to talk the matter over with her. I wrote to Miss Johnson yesterday and told her that you were in line for something, and while they have made an appointment at Babylon, they are very apt to have changes there. Therefore, it is just as well for Miss Johnson to know that you are at the present time available. You will be interested to know that your little friend Mrs. Heley is back with US. We needed another person after Mrs. Lynch cied, and as she was having domestic difficulties and needed work she has returned to US.
