Div.\nSubject Mrs. Florence M. Peter, Badge #5311\nThe following is a copy of a letter which I have just received from\nMrs. Florence M. Peter, Badge 5311, and below I give you a recommendation for\nMrs. Peter for a position as Chief Nurse,\n\"My dear Miss Francis:-\nIn reply to your letter of March 31st, regarding\nposition in one of the Marine Hospitals, I should like\nvery much to consider it, and could be available one\nmonth from date I am notified to resign.\nI shall be here for two more weeks, but just as soon\nas I return to Philadelphia I shall come in to see you.\nI have not mentioned this to Miss O'Halloran, so may\nI ask that you do not mention it either, until I know\ndefinitely about the position, as she has been more than\ngood to me, and I would not like to do anything unpro-\nfessional.\nI should like very much to take the examination for\nChief Nurse.\nThanking you for past favors, I remain,\nVery sincerely,\n(signed) Florence M. Peter\".\nMiss dear Miss Francis:\nI believe you will find in Mrs. Florence Peter a\ndesirable person for the responsible position of Chief\nNurse. She is a woman of splendid character and dignity\nand is also a good nurse. I am glad to recommend her.\nSincerely yours,\n(signed ) Emma C. Smith,\nDirectress of Nurses,\npolyclinic Hospital, Phila.\"\nTrusting that you will be able to place Mrs. Peter and that you note\nMrs. Peter's reference to Miss Alice M. O'Halloran, State supervising Nurse,\nHarrisburg, Pa., I am,\nYours sincerely,\n(Signed) Susan C. Francis"
