Inter-Office Letter
To Mrs. Vaughan, Acting Director, Bureau of Field
April 10, 1919
Nursing Service
From Miss S.C. Francis, N.S. Rep. Penna.-Del. Div.
Subject Mrs. Florence M. Peter, Badge #5311
The following is a copy of a letter which I have just received from
Mrs. Florence M. Peter, Badge 5311, and below I give you a recommendation for
Mrs. Peter for a position as Chief Nurse,
"My dear Miss Francis:-
In reply to your letter of March 31st, regarding
position in one of the Marine Hospitals, I should like
very much to consider it, and could be available one
month from date I am notified to resign.
I shall be here for two more weeks, but just as soon
as I return to Philadelphia I shall come in to see you.
I have not mentioned this to Miss O'Halloran, so may
I ask that you do not mention it either, until I know
definitely about the position, as she has been more than
good to me, and I would not like to do anything unpro-
fessional.
I should like very much to take the examination for
Chief Nurse.
Thanking you for past favors, I remain,
Very sincerely,
(signed) Florence M. Peter".
Miss dear Miss Francis:
I believe you will find in Mrs. Florence Peter a
desirable person for the responsible position of Chief
Nurse. She is a woman of splendid character and dignity
and is also a good nurse. I am glad to recommend her.
Sincerely yours,
(signed ) Emma C. Smith,
Directress of Nurses,
polyclinic Hospital, Phila."
Trusting that you will be able to place Mrs. Peter and that you note
Mrs. Peter's reference to Miss Alice M. O'Halloran, State supervising Nurse,
Harrisburg, Pa., I am,
Yours sincerely,
(Signed) Susan C. Francis
