Miss Virginia M. Doyle
Apt. L, 1211 North 7th Street
St. Louis, Missouri
My dear Miss Doyle:
Your letter of March 25 has been referred to
me. You should have by this time received a letter from
the Army inquiring about your availebility for service
with the Army. The Army Service, of course, does not
necessarily mean that you would have foreign service,
but there is a good deal of likelihood of such service
within the Army.
As you know, anesthetists enter the Army as
general staff nurses in the same way that all nurses with
special training enter, but as there are quite a few open-
ings for enesthetists, the Army is on the lookout for nurses
who can be assigned immediately to such service.
I am enclosing géneral information about assign-
ment to foreign service with the Red Cross. At the mom-
ent, the unit 'for Hewaii is the only unit being assigned
under the Red Cross, and the quote for this unit is now
completed. We are glad to keep you in mind for acpossible
Red Cross assignment but urge you to consider immediate
Army Service if you are available.
Sincerely yours,
Virginia M. Dunber
Assistant Director
