My dear Mrs. Fisher$
Your letter of April 1st forwarded with a completed
address questionnaire form to bring your enrollment records as a Red
Cross nurse up to date, has just been brought to my attention. More
than likely by the time this letter reaches you, you will have heard
of the very sudden death of our beloved Miss Noyes on the morning of
June 3rd while driving to her office. We are still numb from the
terrible shock and overwhelmed by our great loss.
We hasten to assure you that you are an American
Red Cross nurse in good standing, but because you are unavailable for
any active duty, you have been classified in our third reserve, or
inactive status. As we feel you will be interested in our present
method of classifying our enrolled Red Cross nurses, we are enclosing
our pamphlet, ARC 703, having marked the peragraphs on page seven
which explain each classification. The nurses in our third reserve
are still numbered among our Red Cross nurses in good standing,
but because they are inactive we do not ask them to fill in address
questionnaires annually, for our files.
We are so pleased to have your expression of
continued interest and shall be glad to have you communicate with
us from time to time, letting us know where and how you are.
