Whit MISS ALICE L.PITZGFRALD. 3748 on Place of birth Florence, Italy Educated in Germany and France Graduated from School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins Hospital, 1906 Assisted Messina Earthquake, 1908 Head Nurse, Johns Hopkins Hospital, 1910 - 1911 Operating Room Nurse, Bellevue Hospital, New York City ,1911 -1912 Enrolled American Red Cross Nursing Service, 1913 Supt. of Nurses, Wilkes-Barre City Hospital, Pa. 1912 9 Assigned to the British Expeditionary Forces,as as Edith Cavell Memorial Nurse, December 1917. Transferred to the American Red Cross in France, February, 1918. Served with the Service de Sante, France, 1918 -1919. Assigned as Chief Nurse, American Red Cross Commission to Europe, May, 1919 Released from the American Red Cross to become the Director of the Nursing Service, League of Red Cross Societies, Nov.17,1919. Resigned from the League of Red Cross Societies in the fall of 1921 to accept appointment in the Philippines under the International Health Board of the Rockefeller Foundation, to survey nursing and advise Governor. Released from the Philippines service in the fall of 1924. Returned to the League of Red Cross Societies for six months in 1925 to relieve the Director of the Nursing Service. Assigned under the Rockefellar Foundation as Director of Nursing Siriraj Hospital, Bangkok, Siam. 1926 DECORATIONS: 1. Medaille d'honneur en Vermeil. 2. Medaille de la Recornaissance Francaise. 3. British Royal Red Cross. 4. Silver Medal of the Polish Red Cross. 5. Serbian Red Cross Medal. 6. Italian Red Cross Disaster Relief Medal. 7. Russian Red Cross Central Committee Medal. 8. British Campaign Medal. 9. Victory Medaa awarded by the British.
