E Form 766 THE AMERICAN RED CROSS NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS ONT. 236 - P. 4 the *. Marine To: National Headquarters and Branch Date: February 13, 1930. Office Staffs. From: James L. Fieser, Vice Chairman. Subject: Resignation of Miss Elizabeth G. Fox, Director, Public wes Health Nursing. It is with keen regret that I announce the resignation of Miss Elizabeth G. Fox, National Director of Public Health Nursing. Miss Fox will become Executive Director of the Visiting Nurse Association of New Haven, Connecticut, and a member of the faculty of the Yale School of Nursing. This is one of the outstanding op- portunities in this field in the United States. Miss Fox will continue with us, however, until some time in May. 11 In Miss Fox were uniquely combined an exceptional background in training, ex- perience, ability and personality. She came to the Red Cross almost twelve years ago as Associate National Director, Public Health Nursing. On August 8, 1919 she became National Director of Public Health Nursing, which position she has held to date. Miss Fox's training and experience in public health work before coming to the Red Cross, was exceptional, A native of Wisconsin, she attended the University of Wisconsin where she attained high scholastic honors. Following her training at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing she held key positions on the nursing staffs of the University Hospital, University of Minnesota, Chicago Visiting Nurse Association Dayton Ohio Visiting Nurse Association, and the Visiting Nurse Society, Washington, D.C. Miss Fox has been highly regarded always within the various local, national and international nursing associations with which she has been identified, having at one time or another served in high elective or appointive positions in most of them. In Washington, D.C. she was President of the Graduate Nurse Association and President of the Board of Nurs'e Exeminers. She was President, also, of the Nationa Organization of Public Health Nursing, Chairman, Public Health Nursing Section of the American Public Health Association and a Member of the Nursing Advisory Council of the League of Red Cross Societies. She has held in her profession an enviable position which has contributed much to the success of her directorship of Red Cross, Public Health Nursing; and while every member of our staff who knows and appre- ciates the value of her leadership to our nursing program, regret her loss, I em sure all would join me in wishing her in her new undertakings, the success that follows all she undertakes.
