Miss AGNESE H. GLEESON, being duly sworn, in making
application for Red Cross Health & Accident Insurance, submits the
following sworn statement in support of her claim:
I am a graduate of the State Hospital Training School of
Kankakee, Illinois,
I was accepted for Red 6ross Nursing Service, May 8th, 1918,
and my serial number was 20, 134
I was called to report for overseas duty, and arrived in New
York for that purpose August 24th, and sailed for England September 3rd.
Arriving in England September 21st, I went into acrive service September
27th, as superintendent of nurses at Red Cross Naval Hospital #7, Cardiff,
Wales, where I remained until October 16th, 1918.
I then went to Paris and reported for duty October 2lst, 1918.
and was stationed at the Red Cross Military Hospital No. 6, at Bellevue-
sur-Seine. While there I had an attack of influenza, but remained on
duty part time.
December 15th, 1918, I went to Coblenz, Germany, and helped to
open Evacuation Hospital #2. While there I was taken sick, and sent
to Base Hospital #6, where my ca.se was diagnosed as cardio vascular trouble
and I returned to Paris, February 16, 1919, and stayed at the Red Cross
Club until March 3rd, 1919, when I was sent back to the United States on
account of my illness, after examination by the doctor at Red Cross Head-
quarters in Paris.
I returned to Minneapólis, Minn, and was in such poor health
that I was unable to do any work until September, 1919. I then took
up private nursing and worked part time only. I could not pass the
physical examination recuired for hospital work as my heart tr ouble still
persists, and my unstable nervous condition makes it impossible for me
to attemot any steady work.
