Copy sent Miss Deans. March 3, 1931. Mr. Gustavus D. Pope, Chairman, Red Cross Chapter, 1818 Ford Building, Detroit, Michigan. My dear Mr. Pope: Miss Agnes G. Deans has sent me a sheaf of material regarding Mrs. Lystra E. Gretter, whom the nurses of Michigan have nominated for a Florence Nightingale Medel. May I state that these medals are awarded every two years, and that Miss Glizabeth G. Fox has been nominated this year by the Central Committee of the American Red Cross for this honor. Therefore, 83° we are only entitled to one medal it will be two years before we can make another nomination. A copy of this letter sill be sent to Miss Deans. I have the highest regard for Mrs. Gretter, who has served as a m aber of the National Committee on Red Cross Nursing Pervice for many years. The Red Cross, however, in conformance with the established regulati ns has submitted the names of those nurses who have performed active service under the auspices of the Red Cross, or with the governmental services, having been assigned to them by this organiza- tion. Very sincerely yours, n.h National Director, Nursing Service.
