RECEIVED
Miss Clara D. Noyes,
National Director, Nursing Service,
APR 111985
The Amerioan Red Cross,
Referreu
Washington, D.C.
in nursing
Dear Miss Noyes:-
Miss Hay is improving rapidly
and is beginning to sit up and I hope to see her
able to be up and around in the course of the
next week or two.
The difficulty was a slight cisus
paresis
of the face and musoles of speech without other
paralysis. 1 It came on rather suddenly and was due,
believe, to a slight vascular accident in the
brain, probably a thrombosis.
Miss Hay is so well informed on
medical matters that I have delayed talking things
over with her very completely but it is my full feel-
ing that it would be much wiser for her to rest for
several months before attempting any serious work.
I believe you_will appreciate the difficulty of saying
exactly what will be the outcome as you know many
cases of this sort improve and are able to be at nor-
mal work for months or years. The blood pressure is
not increased and the examination otherwise shows
nothing of serious note.
There is in Miss Hay's family a
history of cardiovascular disease.
I shall be glad to give you any
further information I may have later.
Very) sincerely yours,
EEI/E
ERNEST E. IRONS.
