    "ocrText": "I\nForm 222\nTHE AMERICAN RED CROSS\nNATIONAL\nTo\nThe Chairman\nDate\nNovember 7, 1930\nFrom\nMr. Mulhall\nSubject\nMiss Helen Scott Hay:\nThe Committee on Claims of Personnel has voted to\nrecommend to the Chairman that Helen Scott Hay be granted an additional\nallowance of $50.00 per month for six months covering the period November\n12, 1930 to May 11, 1931 inclusive, or as much thereof as may be necessary,\nas a charge against Claims Committee's Appropriation CA-62, with the under-\nstanding that at the termination of this period the case will be given\nfurther consideration, if necessary.\nIt is respectfully requested that the action of the\nClaims Committee be approved and authority granted for this expenditure.\nMiss Helen Scott Hay was our Chief Nurse in Europe\nduring the World War Period. On account of physical disability incurred\nin overseas service she was allowed the full benefits of our sickness and\naccident insurance contract with the Travelers Insurance Company amounting\nto $3,000.00. These insurance payments terminated May 11, 1929.\nReports received by us at that time indicated that\nMiss Hay was in a very precarious condition of health and that while she\nhad some resources of her own they were not adequate to fully meet the\nneeds of her situation. Because of this fact and of her outstanding ser-\nvice to our organization, extending back to 1914, the Claims Committee\nwith the approval of the Chairman granted her an allowance of $50.00 per\nmonth. She has been paid at this rate from May 12, 1929 to November 11,\n1930 $900.00, which added to her insurance payments makes a total of\n$3,900.00 paid her to November 11, 1930.\nF. J.
