Mise Helen Scott Hay
1554 E. Blet Street
Chicago, Illinoie.
My dear dies Hay:
I was very glad, indeed, to receive your letter, and mant to
assure you right now that I am not responsible for the Gourier
publicity. Indeed, we none of us look upon you as definitely
retired, and if you eay 60, se will have the information in the
article corrected, or if you think best we will let it go.
I will not do anything about it until 1 hear from you again.
In the meantime, I regret that I cannot give you the definite
date of Miss Torrance' e return. Te have looked up the corres-
pondence in her folder, and the last thing we find is 8 letter
dated April 25th from Niss Noyes to Mies Torrance, in which she
advises Miss Torrance that she should arrange for her release
from the School in Sofia immediately after her (Miss Noyes)
vieit to the School. Our itinerary for Miss Noyes indicates that
she expected to reach Sofia on August 13th, leaving there on the
88th or 20th, of August. She will arrive in Constantinople
August 21at and she leavee Conetantinople for Anerica September 6th.
I know that at one time Miss Noyes thought that it might be
possible that Miss Torrance would return with her, but I doubt
now if she does, as Miss Noyes trip back will be a gong one.
The boat, 1 believe, takes three weeke and does not arrive in
New York until September 265h or 27th. I imagine Mise Torrance
will come back by a more direct route.
I am, indeed, glad to hear of your improved health, and am
interested to know that you are considering a course of study
in New York. There are so meny lines of work that I am sure
will be open to you. Mies Lyda Anderson has been writing to me
about the type of work in which ebe 058 interestod. She does
not seem to want to go back to a school at present, so I
suggested to her secretarial workin connection with the American
Nurses' association, or in connection with State Associations.
I am also wondering if this new Committee for the Study of the
Grading of Training schools will not have eome interesting
positions to offer. Do keep in touch with us, and if there is
anything further I can do about that article in the Courier, be
assured that I will do it. With best wiehes
Very trul yours
