INTERVIEW WITH MISS VIRGINIA HEATH

April 14, 1941
Miss Heath is a pleasant attractive appearing nurse, a little
over average height. She has quite a friendly manner, seems to be
mentally alert, and is apparently well brought up.
She tells me that she gets along well with people and feels
that she is readily adjustable. She has never had any difficulty with

those with whom she has worked. There was no opportunity to judge her
a
trustworthiness and only a limited opportunity to evaluate her judgment.

Miss Heath is particularly interested in operating-room work.

She thinks the Harvard Hospital Unit offers an opportunity for a change
and a new experience which should be valuable professionally. She
has
always wanted to go abroad but never wanted to go for short stays in
many places. She much prefers going as a worker to stay long enough in
one place to get the most out of it.
She has had no post-graduate work and says it is her observa-
tion that nurses who are taking post-graduate courses get very little
out of them. She thinks one learns more through practical experience,
and greatly values her present service in a small hospital because she
has an opportunity to do a great variety of things.
On the whole, I would say, Miss Heath is a wholesome, intelli-
gent, and capable appearing nurse with an ordinary nursing background.
She is interested in wholesome recreation; spoke of golf,
bicycling, and roller-skating and had gotten up at Easter morning to
attend the Sunrise Service.
Miss Heath claims to have had no illnesses within the past two
years and to be in good physical condition.
