I 1/8/57 OBITUARIES 3 T Eugenia Lola Klinefelter (Washington University Training School for Nurses, St. Louis, Missouri, 1920) died suddenly in St. Louis, January 1, 1957. C Miss linefelter started her career as a field nurse for the U.S. Public Health L Service in 1920. In 1926 she was a public health nurse for the Ame rican Red a Cross Chapter in Virden, Illinois. She was an assistant director of Nursing Services of the American Red Cross in Pacific Area, and later in Eastern Area. She retired in 1946, and accepted a position as health nurse at Washington University Medical School, Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Hissouri. M Mrs. Charlotte M. Heilman (Johns Hopkins, Baltinore, Maryland, 1908) died December 5, 1956. She retired in 1945 to her home in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Mrs. Heilman began her career as a private duty nurse, and later worked as a public health nurse in Pennsylvania. After her husband's death she accepted a position with the American Red Cross Commission in Italy and in Greece. During her 3-year assignment in Greece she set up an infant care program, a school nursing program, and assisted in establishing laws for the heal th protection of infants and children in Greece. Mrs. Heilman was a Red Cross nurse instructor in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic before she accepted a position with the American National Red Cross. She was a nursing field representative in the North Atlantic Area at the time of her retirement. Since then she has been an active volunteer in the Red Cross Chapter at Plainfield, New Jersey. Mrs. Heilman was a recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award in 1933. 10 2
