New York, New York.
My dear Miss Hickcox:
We are very sorry to find that up to this time you have
failed to reply to our letter of February 23, 1928, of which the
following is a copy'
"We are making an effort to bring the records of all
our American Red Cross nurses up to date and are surprised to
find, upon consulting those of your sister, Miss Verda Fern
Hickcox, that we have not heard from her since April 1926. At
that time, she stated she was taking a Fublic Health course at
Teachers' College, New York City and gave h er address as 535 West
113th Street, New York City. We feel, however, that Miss Hickcox
has no doubt completed her course and left New York City, hence
this letter to you in the hope you will be good enough to send
us her present address. We would explain that we are not desirous
of getting in touch with your sister for the purpose of request-
ing her to render any service whatever but we simply wish to have
her records as a Red Cross nurse up to date."
We feel reasonably sure our letter reached you inasmuch as it
was not returned to us for better address and hence we are taking the
liberty of writing you again, feeling that perhaps our request slipped
your mind.
We are very anxious for the present address of your sister,
Miss Verda Fern Hickeox and sincerely hope you will be good enough to
respond to this communication without delay.
Thanking you in advance for your courtesy, we are
Very truly yours,
Clara D. Noyes,
National Director,
Nursing Service.
