Dear Miss Beard :
I do not know exactly how matters stand at the moment
concerning the health service for Red Cross personnel in England
which you told me about over the phone when you were in New York.
I have discussed it with Miss Parker of course, and since a year's
leave of absence had already been approved that would not present
an obstacle. However, if I a.m likely to be called, especially if
it might be soon, I should let Miss Parker know as soon as possible.
While my immedáate relief is assured other help would have to be secured
and a very El uitable person is now available whom we would like to
approach if there is anything definite we can say to her.
Needless to say I am very happy in the prospect of working
with you again and of making some more direct contribution to the
war effort than is afforded by my position here, though I do not
minimize the vital importance of the schools of nursing at this time.
And I hope that if called I shall be able to do a creditable job.
Sincerely yours,
Uerde 7. Audicox
