A nurse shall be eligible for enrollment in the Special Service group,\nproviding she is an enrolled Red Cross Nurse, eligible for active duty, yet\nholding a position in which, in the opinion of the Red Cross, she is more\nvaluable at present than in war service. Nurses physically or otherwise dis-\nqualified for active war service are not eligible for this enrollment, but\nshould be enrolled in the Home Defense group.\n2. Application must be made by the person, organization or institution\nemploying the nurse, to the American Red Cross, New England Division,\n755 Boylston Street, Boston, Mass.\n3. Any person, organization or institution employing more than one nurse, for\nwhom the special service enrollment is desired, shall file individual\napplications for each nurse.\n4.\nA Committee appointed by the Director, Bureau of Nursing Service, New England\nDivision, shall act upon applications and shall make recommendations to the Bureau\nof Nursing Service, which shall issue a chevron to each nurse, whose application\nhas been approved.\n5. The names of all nurses in the Special Service group will be forwarded to\nthe\nAmerican Red Cross, Department of Nursing, at Washington, in order to prevent\nthe assignment of these nurses to active war service.\n6. The Special Service enrollment of a nurse relates only to the position she\nholds at the time the chevron is issued. If a nurse changes her position, the\nperson, organization or institution, which employed her shall immediately inform\nthe Bureau of Nursing of the change of status and shall also return the chevron.\nNothing shall prevent the filing of another application should the nurse assume a\nnew position in which she may be considered essential to a community.\n2"
