35138 Ises our ed XIOY well at #10ges of betseaper efgleoer gotfood at wich June 8, 1921 Mrs. Josephine S. Jokaitis, 1800 Connecticut St. Gary, Ind. I gogs My dear Mrs. Jokaitis:- everfied ,tapistnt Your letter to Miss Noyes arrived just as she was leaving for a trip to Louisville, and after discussing the situation with me, at her re- quest I am writing you to state that while we regret to be obliged to wait two months to secure you for Miss Bridge, we feel that it is worth while to do so. We are, however, starting at once to arrange for your trip to PO- land, as it is necessary to engageusailingsimmediately in order to secure them. We should like to arrange for you to sail on or about ugust 1st, and trust that you will notify us at onceth.t you will be ready at this time. We note that you are willing to remain for two years or longer, if necessary. This will be a great relief to Miss Bridge, as the organization of a Training School is something that covers a long period of time. Miss Noyes feels very strongly that nurses hould stay at least two years In order that the Red Cross may arrange all the necessary details re carding your sailing, etc., we will send you the necessary papers to fill out; service application forms; physical examination blank; Immunity blank; also 4.R.C. 702 regarding equipment. Kindly fill in the service application form and have your physical examination made on the blank enclosed and return them to this office as promptly as possible. We will then refer your name to our Bureau of Personnel at Headquarters, when instructions concerning your passport application will be sent to you by that Department. Please begin your immunity treatment at once. The white immunity certificate should be retained by you,and the blue one forwarded to this office for filing with your other papers. It is also important that you receive vaccination for small pox. You will be provided with the Red Cross uniform upon your arrival in New York. will you kindly check the size of uniform you require on the enclosed equipment card, and forward the same promptly to Mrs. Maud G. Moody Mgr. Bureau of Nurses' Equipment, 44 East 23d St., New York City, who will have your equipment in readiness for you when you report in New York. In addition to the equipment furnished by the Red Cross, I think it would be wise to provide yourself, if you do not already have one, - with a safety bag in which to carry passport, money, Red Cross identification card and other important papers. In no case should this bag be left in your suitcase or trunk to be checked.
