July 2, 1919. Miss Annie W. Kerr, Base Hospital #69, Savenay, France. My dear Miss Kerr: Since writing you on June 3 th Miss Deans has received your letter, and I note that you state that Miss Delano belonged to the A. E. F. I cannot understand show this oan be. I telephoned to General Ireland and he stated that he was quite sure that Miss Delano was recog- nized as a member of the Red Gross Nursing Service but was given the entre to army hospitals as a courtesy. Is there any evidence of her transfer to the Army Nurse Corps? We have had, no notification from headquarters to that effect if this is the case. I also note that you state that everything has been done to secure the transfer of Miss Deleno's body, but apparently without avail. Miss Fitz erald writes to the same effect, and she also states that you ex- pect to remain there until the body is returned. As I told you in my last letter, the Red Cross feels that as this is somewhat uncertain, it would seem wiser for you to return, unless of course you wish to stay over inde- pendently. As there seems nothing new to be said beyond what I have already said in my letter of the 30th, I can only close this with affectionate regards from all of us here at National Headquarters. Very sincerely yours, CDN/REG Acting Director, Department of Nursing.
