Extract of a letter to Miss Noyes from Mary I. Hall, dated Octoberr29, 1923. "You will be glad to hear no doubt that "our dear" Sophia Kiel who met with such a dreadful accident in May. is slowly improving. I went up to the Navy Hospital at Mare Island some weeks ago to see her, and after four months time she was just beginning to recognize her friends. She is just beginning to walk and is getting around out of doors some now. She still sees double though but we are all delighted that she sees at all for there was weeks that the doctors said she had lost sight of one eye and they were not so sure of the other one. She tires very easily and strength coming back very slowly. I was with her the first week relieving one of the nurses. It was three months before she became conscious, and even now her mind is clouded at times. It has been over five months now since the accident and she still has her special nurse." Extract of a letter to Miss Mary Hall, from Miss Noyes, dated November 8, 1923. "I have been so sorry for Sophia Kiel, and am delighted to know that you saw her, and that she recognized you. This certainly is a good symptom."
