UNIFORMS AND CLOTHING
Nurses take their own uniforms for which the arm insignia of the Red
Cross Nurse will be supplied.
Ten uniforms, white for hospital nurses, grey (or blue) for public
M
health nurses, are recommended.

Outdoor uniforms will be supplied by the American Red Cross if they
are required.
Personal clothing should include the ordinary range of clothing for
different occasions, the weight depending on the climate of the
location to which assigned.
The total amount of baggage should not exceed what can be carried in
large bags; or if you prefer a small trunk it should be similar to
the trunks used by Army nurses (approximate measurements, 302 x 162

15 inches) A trunk has the advantage of giving you a place in
which to lock possessions after you reach your destination.

SALARY
General staff nurses - $90 a month plus maintenance and travel.
Head nurses will receive an additional amount, depending upon the nature
of the assignment.
INSURANCE AND DISABILITY PROVISION
The American Red Cross has arranged for the best insurance protection which
can be made by a voluntary agency. The same provision covers all
personnel serving under the American Red Cross outside the mainland
of the United States. This should not be confused with the Army
provision which applies only to personnel in the service of the
Army. Nurses accepting service under the Red Cross are supplied with
copies of the insurance provision so that they may clearly under-
stand the insurance arrangement made for them.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL NURSES ELIGIBLE FOR ARMY OR NAVY SERVICE

All Red Cross Nurses eligible for Army or Navy assignment and

available for service are urged to accept assignment with the
