LaLonde\n608 Chisholm\nAlpena, Michigan\nMy dear Miss LaLonde:\nIt is & pleasure to advise you of your appointment as one of the nurses in\nthe Hawaii Red Cross Unit.\nYou say expect a telegram giving instructions to proceed to San Francisco\nin the near future and, therefore, I suggest that you make preparations to\nleave on very short notice. I am attaching a sub-advance check, in the\namount of $250.00, which should be converted into Travelers' Checks, listing\nthe numbers and denominations on the attached forms, one of which should be\nreturned to me airmail, special delivery. An accurate account should be kept\nof all expenses in connection with your travel to San Francisco, in order\nthat proper voucher forms may be prepared in support of the sub-advance. A\ncopy of ARC 508, \"Travel Leave and Regulations,\" is attached, which you will\nneed for reference during your assignment, SG be sure to bring it with you.\nThere are several forms which we need to complete your file, as follows:\nSOCIETO VLOST V*1*C\"\nForm 615-A and Form G.527, to be completed and returned us.\n2 Copies Insurance Notice, one of 46 ARC consigned-end\nreturned to us for your permanent record, and the other to\nbe retained by you for your reference.\nPlease complete them immediately and return with the record of Travelers\nChecks.\nSTROOLOTA Lames\nThere was no indication on your physical examination blank to the effect that\nyou - sad received immunization for tetanus toxoid, and, therefore, I suggest\nthat you arrange to have this a letter\nfrom the physician to the effect that it has been administred.\nI believe you have received from Washington a copy of \"General Information\nRegarding Nurses' Assignments,\" giving details about uniforms and baggage;\nhowever, in order to be perfectly sure, I am attaching another copy. We shall\nprovide Cross caps and insignia upon your arrival Since the\nclimate is warm in Hawaii, I suggest that you bring only summer clothing, with\nthe exception of a light-weight coat or suit, to be worn on the boat."
