My dear Mrs. Lamb:
Your letter to Miss Mabel Boardman was referred
to the Nursing Service of the American Red Cross in order that the
information you desire might be supplied from your Red Cross records
on file in this office.
First, may I assure you that no discharge papers
were issued to the nurses who served under the American Red Cross.
There is an efficiency card in every nurse's folder indicating
date of her appointment, date of release and any transfers that
the made during her service. According to your card you were
assigned were to service in Paris, France, August 1, 1918. You were
released from service January 2, 1919. The notation as to why
were released is "services no longer needed". This card is
you signed by Miss Carrie M. Hall, Chief Nurse, American Red Cross,
Paris Office.
