Not granted General Enrollment
because 22 1b. over maximum

Miss Betty Jean Koopman
c/o Director of Bursing
University of Kansas Hospital
Kansas City, Kansas
My dear Miss Koopmans
Now that you have completed your course of study and qualified for full
membership in the Red Cross Nursing Service, we are pleased to transfer you from
the Student Reserve and welcome you as a member of the Second Reserve.
You enrolled in the Student Reserve because you were eager to serve your
country in case of emergency and now, as a Second Reserve nurse, you are
going to have the opportunity to prove the sincerity of your intentions. We know
you will always maintain the high standards of nursing which the Red Cross expects
of you and fully appreciate the worldwide significance of its Nursing Service.
Because of the EMERGENCY NATURE of this Service it is important that you
INFORM US AT ONCE of any condition which may affect your classification, such as
CHANGE OF ADDRESS, MARITAL STATUS, or PHYSICAL CONDITION, and that you ANSWER
IMMEDIATELY ALL COMMUNICATIONS from RED CROSS HEADQUARTERS, your LOCAL COMMITTEE
ON RED CROSS NURSING SERVICE, or the ARMY or NAVY NURSE CORPS.
Enclosed herewith are instructions and your appointment card and badge
No. HD 11,876 which are your credentials as a Red Cross nurse. Please acknowledge
receipt of these credentials by RETURN MAIL on the postal card enclosed for that
purpose, giving your badge number for verification.
As your application was filed before you knew what position you would accept
after graduation, we will appreciate having you fill in and return the other postal
card enclosed, AS SOON AS YOU CAN GIVE US THE INFORMATION REQUESTED.
The first of each year, you will receive a questionnaire from the Red Cross
Nursing Service. We urge you to FILL THIS IN and RETURN IT PROMPTLY to the address
given on the questionnaire, so that you may remain in the active classification.
Sincerely yours,
Appointment Card and Baage
