Landmesser\nMay 18, 1942\n19th Swatara Street\nHarrisburg, Pennsylvania\nMy dear Miss Landmesser:\nWe are pleased to inform you that your application for enrollment\nin the Red Cross Nursing Service has been approved and to welcome you as a\nmember of this service world wide in its significance and opportunity.\nEnclosed herewith are instructions and your appointment card and\nBadge No HD 7916\nwhich are your credentials as a Red Cross Home Defense\nnurse. Please acknowledge receipt of these credentials by RETURN MAIL on the\nenclosed postal card giving your badge number for verification.\nRead the enclosures carefully and observe all instructions.\nWe are confident that you appreciate the great privilege of serving\nas a member of our Second Reserve and the obligation of always maintaining\nhigh standards of nursing.\nBecause of the EMERGENCY NATURE of the work of the Red Cross Nursing\nService, it is IMPERATIVE that you INFORM US AT ONCE of any condition which\nmay affect your status such as CHANGE OF ADDRESS, MARITAL STATUS, or PHYSICAL\nCONDITION, and that you ANSWER IMMEDIATELY ALL COMMUNICATIONS from HEADQUARTERS\nor your LOCAL COMMITTEE.\nEach year you will receive a questionnaire from the Red Cross Nursing\nService. We urge you to FILL THIS IN and RETURN IT PROMPTLY to the address given\non the questionnaire.
