Miss Lillian Viola Latus
Yonkers General Hospital
Yonkers, N. Y.
My dear Miss Latus:
Thank you for submitting your physical report. There is nothing
in this report to indicate that you might not be eligible for the Hawaiian
Nursing Service. However, before the final decision can be made, it will
be necessary for us to plan for you to have a complete physical by a
physician who is selected by our Red Cross Medical Advisor.
However, before completing any more credentials, I thought it
would be well to discuss over the type of position for which you would be
considered in Hawaii. You have definitely asked to be placed in charge of
an obstetrical unit. This we will not be able to do as we have already
completed the appointments for the day supervisors.
The skeleton staff which we use, however, vary a little bit from
the staff of a general hospital here, in that they consist of a chief nurse,
her assistants and the staff nurses. The only supervisory position which
we have open at the present is the night supervisor.
e
If you wish to bè considered for this position, we will proceed
to complete your credentials. This pays $150.00 per month with full main-
tenance. Of course, you could accept an appointment for general staff
nurse with a request to be considered for a supervisory position whenever
there might be an opening there. There is an over-all supervisor in charge
of all the units, Miss Marjorie MacLachlan, and it is her privilege to
change nurses from one assignment to another as vacancies may occur. Tie
provide her with the professional experience record of every nurse, and she
is, of course, glad to take any special request into consideration.
May we hear from you at your earliest convenience.
Very truly yours,
(Mrs.) Ernestine B. Amick
