Mrs. Isabelle Baker,
Director, Home Hygiene Instruction,
American Red Cross,
Washington, D. C.
My dear Mrs. Baker:
As you no doubt know, I am remaining
in my office until the 15th of July and I am, therefore, able
to finish up pretty well the business on hand.
I am sure that you, as well as Miss Noyes
and Miss Fox, are pleased to have Miss Harris appointed in my
place, and we are also happy to know that a person with such good
qualifications and preparation for the work is being assigned to us.
I have been much gratified, Mrs. Baker, by
the increase in the Home Hygiene work out here, and will have to
confess that I have perhaps worked harder on this phase of the work
than almost any other branch of the Red Cross Nursing work. It is
gratifying, therefore, to notice how many more of the schools have
agreed to include our Red Cross course and how many more of the
nurses are making a real effort to qualify as instructors. I notice
that Miss Harris has had special preparation for the Home Hygiene
work and so I am confident that the steady increase in growth of this
department will continue.
I want to thank you for your cooperation and
interest during the period of my service in connection with this work,
and trust that when you come out on one of your visits to the Pacific
Coast I may have the pleasure of seeing you at that time.
Very cordially yours,
Davetry Lidy and
(Miss) Dorothy Ledyard, R.N.
Assistant National Director,
Nursing Service, A.R.C.
