Miss Lucile Petry
727 - 15th Ave. S. E.
Minneapolis, Minn.
My dear Miss Petry:
At the time of your enrollment in the Red Cross
Nursing Service you indicated your preference to be recorded
as a reserve nurse for the Army Nurse Corps. Because of the
location in which you are living your name is, therefore,
listed with the Commander of the Seventh Corps Area, with
Headquarters at Omaha, Nebraska.
A recent communication to this office indicates that
the letters sent to you by the Corps Area Commander have not
been answered. Since the letters have not been returned, it
is assumed that they reached you.
As you know, the Corps Area plans are drawn up so
that in a military emergency no time would be lost. Nurses
would not be requested to serve with the Army except in great
emergency such as war. Your plans as a civilian are in no way
interfered with by your being on the reserve list of the Corps
Area, and we feel sure that as a First Reserve nurse you would
wish to be available if you should be needed. In any instance
in which nurses are needed, personal obligations such as illness
in the nurse's family are, of course, always taken in considera-
tion at the time.
We, therefore, hope that you will answer the last letter
which you have received from the Corps Area Commander. If, by
chance, a letter has not reached you, or you have lost the letter,
will you clear your record by writing to the Corps Area Commander
indicating this, and offering to give the necessary information.
Sincerely yours,
Mary Beard,
Director, Nursing Service.
