June 10, 1935.
Miss Clara D. Noyes,
Chairman, National Committee,
Red Cross Nursing Service,
National Headquarters,
Washington, D. C.
Dear Miss Noyes:
Present
I received today from my daughter, Miss Genevieve Leprestre
a letter addressed to her by you under date of December 21, 1934,
in connection with her citizenship.
For your information, I beg to state that I am not a naturalized
citizen but simply an American citizen through the fact that my
parents were American citizens, althought I was born abroad.
I have always been able to secure my passports for travelling
abroad without any trouble by the State Department and my
daughter also, as she is an American citizen from the fact
that I am an American citizen, althought she was born in France.
I have resided in this country ever since I can remember,
althought I have travelled extensively and always obtained
my passpotrs without any trouble.
I have just returned from abroad and my last passport was
issued December 11, 1933, the number of which is 71481.
I
should like to help you more, but I do not know what you wish
me to do. Will you please advise so that I can act accordingly
to comply with yourwishes to the best of my ability?
My references in Washington are the Hon. Charles Curtis, whom
I have known for several years; Mr. Joseph R. McCuen, attorney
at law, Shoreham Building, Washington, D. C., and Mr. W. D.
Jamieson, former congressman, in the Southern Build ng, Washington,
D. C.
Very truly yours,
RLPAJM
are.
