than December 21, 1934 Miss Genevieve Leprestre 56 Lucretia Place Portland, Oregon My dear Miss LePrestre: We are afraid you did not quite under- stand our letter of December 10th ith which we sent you a paper to be filled in giving us evidence of your citizenship. According to your application you are French by birth and your father and mother were born in France and though you did not mention the citizenship of your father we assume he was a French citizen. As citizenship in the United States is one of the requirements for enrollment in the Red Cross Nurs- ing Service it is necessary for ua to have certain information taken from your naturalization paper. As you came to this country and are now a citizen of the United States, you must have first declared your intention to become a citizen and after a certain period of time received your second or final naturalization paper. The passport number which you have given us we would not suppose to be your evidence of citizenship. If your father came to this country and became a naturalized citizen and you are a citizen through his naturalization, then the enclosed paper should be filled in from his citizenship paper. We hope we have made this matter clear to you. Very sincerely yours, Clara D. Noyes Chairman, National Committee Red Cross Nursing Service IFB-ec
