Extracted from letter from Miss Ethel G. Pinder, July 21, 1921. Miss Elizabeth Warham Foster badge number 28353, 1428 Wood Ave; Colorado Springs, came as & volunteer. Lewis Miss Foster and her assistant, Blanche Ina Lewis, Red Cross Nurse, badge number 26114, - it was a pleasure to meet these women for their spriet of service was so exceptional. Miss Foster was called back but Miss Lewis remained until we could replace her with the local personnel between you and me 9 Miss Noyes, few of the Pueblo nurses could measure up to them. Ansewred by Miss Noyes Aug. 16, 1921. Your two letters of the 21st of July arrived during my absence from a two weeks vacation. I am thrilled be the attitude of the nurses towardsthe Pueblo disaster particularly in the case of Blanche Ina Lewis, who was accused by the Pike's Peak Chapter during the War of seriour neglect of her professional duties. They insisted upon an investigation and the withdrawal of Miss Lewis from foreign service and wrote positive reams of the subject. Miss Lewis's overseas duty was satisfactory, and it is particularly gratifying to know that at the Pueblo disaster she performed such conspicuous service. I wish that the Pike's Peak Chapter might know something of it , but I suppose that is not possible.
