Miss Clara Noyes, --2
should have been called home immediately and dismissed
from the service.
If the charges were not thoroughly sub-
stantiated to your satisfaction, her record, if possible,
should have been cleared in the eyes of the Colorado
Springs people by a full statement of your findings.
Neither the people of Colorado Springs, who have worked
so faithfully in the Red Cross since the War began, nor
Nurse Lewis' friends, are happy about the present un-
satisfactory disposition of the matter.
I am only writing this further letter
because of my intimate knowledge of the facts of the
situation, which were presented to me in person when I
was recently in Colorado springs.
With best personal wishes for the New Year
season, I remain,
Always sincerely yours,
HAS/ENF
