Dear Miss Dunbar:
Our
Mrs.
Broughton
arrived
at
Salisbury
at

P.M.,
December
27th,1941.
I
met her at the station and we drove to the Recreation Room where tea was awaiting
us.
I am sure we are going to like her very much. She soresembles Mrs. Brecken-
ridge. Mr. & Mrs. Elcock had a dinner party for twelve on December 27th. The
group consisted of Mr.&.Mrs. Elcock, Mrs.Broughton, Misses Phillips, Peterson,
Westerman, Smock, Sundby, Somerville, Jurewitz, F.Madley and G.Madley. It was
a nice party. Today Miss Peterson took Mrs. Broughton to the Cathedral. Tonight
we are going to have mince pies and coffee in the Recreation Room with Community
singing. That will be a splendid opportunity for an introduction of the House
Mother to the group.
I will list the parts of uniform that we need.

Miss Raymond, and Mrs. Elcock who had second suits made here

sent over for thirteen nurses.
50 A.R.C. pins for the uniforms made over here with additional
ones for replacement.
Some cut out Red Cross pins came with Frances Madley's uniform but
most of them are those on a white background. Is it alright to use these?
There was much discussion about that when I was at Washington but I do not know
the
result
of
the
discussion.
If we can use these we will have plenty, but
if
not then we shall need more.
Frances Madley's uniform arrived December 5th, 1941.
I would like to recommend at this time that Miss Westerman be given the
raise of salary we had agreed upon when electing Head Nurses. The suggestion
at that time, if you remember, was to be a raise of ten dollars monthly. Was my
recommendation
for

suggesting an additional lining for our top coats. Mrs. Elcock and I had visited
the uniform tailor here at Salisbury before Dr. Gordon left, and we had found this
to be impractical. Our top coats are definitely inadequate, they are heavy but
not warm. If new ones are approved of we shall need buttons and sleeve emblems
for them. There are 73 of us
